TesamorelinCare routes, made clear

Prepare and decide

What belongs in an assessment

A decision about care takes more than a preferred product name. Use the label’s checks to shape the conversation.

Before a treatment decision

The label checked in September 2026 tells prescribers, the people writing prescriptions, to check blood sugar before starting tesamorelin.

It calls for review of past cancer and for a check of conditions that rule treatment out.

These include pregnancy and damage to, or removal of, the pituitary, a hormone-making gland.

Mention any past gland problem, gland surgery, radiation to your head or head injury. Ask whether it affected this gland.

  • What makes this medicine a possible match for my concern?
  • Which part of my history changes that decision?
  • What needs to be checked before deciding?

During treatment

The September 2026 label calls for blood-sugar checks from time to time and IGF-1 checks during treatment.

IGF-1 is a substance that helps regulate growth.

For people with diabetes, the label also calls for checks for possible eye damage.

It asks prescribers to reconsider continuing treatment if deep belly fat has not gone down.

Discuss other medicines too

Growth hormone may alter the speed at which the liver breaks down certain other medicines, according to the September 2026 label.

That can change how those medicines affect you.

Bring a list of what you take. Ask the clinician to explain any issue in words you can repeat back.

Ask who orders each test and who reviews its result. Include those steps when comparing a clinic visit with telehealth.
